An Evening with the US Seventh Fleet Band, Event at the National Library Board – The Plaza
The U.S. 7th Fleet Band is one of 11 U.S. Navy Fleet Bands, this unit provides musical support for ships, military bases, foreign dignitaries, and many community relations events throughout the Western Pacific. The band, under the direction of Fleet Bandmaster, Lieutenant Junior Grade Geordie F. O. Kelly , is fortunate to be staffed by some of the Navy’s finest and most talented musicians. Operating from Yokosuka, Japan, along with the U.S. 7th Fleet flagship, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19).

Giving life to Old Books

Books Exchange 2011 - NLB Plaza The annual Book Exchange organised by the National Library Board would be held at The National Library Board, 100 Victoria Street – The Plaza, on the 16th April 2011 from 8.30am.

On 16 April 2011, the public can present their coupons at the Book Exchange event for a one-for-one exchange of books collected from other participants at The Plaza, National Library Building, from 8.30am to 6.00pm.

In line with the Book Exchange’s green focus, participants are encouraged to bring their own carrier bags on 16 April 2011 as no bags will be provided at the event.

The Book Exchange 2011 is held in conjunction with World Book and Copyright Day which aims to celebrate books and the joy of reading. In addition to the Book Exchange, programmes in the four official languages will be organised by Public Libraries Singapore in conjunction with World Book and Copyright Day.
